Before writing a cover letter, you need to know the basic information about it. What is it and what is the purpose of it. In short, cover letter is a document that is sent along with your CV, usually as the front cover. It provides additional information about your skills and experiences.

The things that make it differs from CV is that instead of overviewing your skills and experiences, a cover letter specifically written with the job you are applying for. It gives detailed information on why you are qualified for the job you are applying for.

What to write in cover letters?

Salutation: it is the greeting to address the person being written to. Begin your salutation with “Mr./Ms. Name”. If you do not know the name of the employer, you can simply write, “Dear Hiring Manager.”

Introduction: Begin your introduction by stating the job you are applying for. You can also mention where do you know the employee information and why you interest to apply for the job. Body: In the next paragraph, explain why you make a great candidate for the position. Mention the specific qualifications listed in the requrements and explain how you meet the qualifications. Highlight your skills and past achievements as they relate to the positon. You can also give additional relevant skills such as computer knowledge and communication skill. As a plus point, you better give tangible examples from your work experience to show your traits.

Closing: In the closing section, you can discuss why you would like to work at the company you are applying. State that you would like the opportunity to interview or have further discussion about the employment. Explain what you will do to follow-up, and when you will do it. At last but not least, thank the employer for his consideration.
