Imagine the “big picture” – Try to create your ideal internship life. What is yourself doing in you ideal internship life? Do you want to achieve something? Do you want to have a good relationship with your colleagues? Turns your vision into a list.

Be realistic – Now, back to your list of setting internship goal and check it again. Are your goals realistic enough? Can you really achieve it? It’s okay to have high expectations on you internship life but don’t forget to be realistic. Try to avoid unrealistic goals, such as getting a wage raise in less than a year, for yourself but focus on setting goals that you can accomplish.

Be specific – What do you want to achieve? Is there any skill that you want to acquire? Do you want to create a new habit? Try to be as clear as possible. You may want to write “create a social media presence through Facebook and Instagram, and post a daily update everyday” instead of just writing “increase the company social media presence”. The clarity will help you know about what you have to do later on.

Make sure it’s measurable and trackable – While setting your goals, don’t forget to ask yourself: how will I know that I’ve accomplished my goals? When will I achieve my goals? Don’t just write “increase the company’s profit” in you goals. Instead, you can write “increase the company’s profit by 10% in 3 months”  

Make it happen – After finish setting you goals, it means it’s the time for you to working on it and achieve your goals.

When you finally manage to achieve your goals, take times to enjoy your achievements. Appreciate your efforts and reward yourself appropriately. But then don’t forget to set another goals.
